New Faces Will Contribute Towards the Deer Movement
We got a ourselves a Tiger ! I have always wanted a Memphis player on the Bucks. Chris Douglas-Roberts, A.K.A. CDR was one of my favorite Tigers and will be showcasing his skills and passion in a Bucks uniform. John Salmons just opted out of his contract to consider signing on another team and its looking like he will exercise that right. Luke Ridnour is on the ropes and we are trying to keep him, but CDR will only help the Bucks regardless of how things shake out. He is a proven go-getter and is not comfortable playing for a team who won 12 regular season games compared to the Bucks 46 wins.
CDR is excited to embark on the Fear the Deer campaign and Milwaukee is happy to have him. He will bring his winning ways from Memphis to the Bucks to strengthen our nucleus of players. Brandon Jennings will have more options to dish the rock off to and can depend on CDR's solid defensed and never taking a play off. I think Skiles is the perfect coach for CDR as he will tell it like it is and expect nothing less than fighting 100% every game. CDR was so excited about transforming into a Buck that he was tweeting like a die-hard Milwaukee Bucks fan cheering on the Deer and everything. The 1 concern CDR brings with him is his Twitter savvyness which could get him in some trouble.
The other fantastic acquisition John Hammond landed this off-season was signing Forward Corey Maggette. Maggette is a solid wing threat with an array of shots in his tool box. He is a seasoned vet but not too old at the age of 30. Last year he averaged 19.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists on the Golden State Warriors. Maggette loves the game and knows how to get the job done. Bucks fans will be expecting him to produce similar numbers as John Salmons put up as he tests the open market. He played at Duke in college and this is actually the first time I realized that both pick-ups played for excellent college programs and that will benefit the Bucks tremendously. Are the Bucks going to miss Charlie Bell and Dan Gadzuric? Absolutely not. We essentially gave away nothing to gain something high in value. John Hammond will not hesitate to make his product better, especially if there is nothing to lose !
Picking up Larry Sanders, Darrington Hobson and Tiny Gallon along with acquiring CDR and Maggette is a great step forward. We interviewed Brandon Jennings at Summerfest on Monday and his goal as a Buck next season is to win 50 games and make it past the first round of the playoffs. I don't see those goals too far to reach and I think everyone in the Bucks organization will agree with me.
